J. Paulo Ramos (based in Vancouver BC; since 1992), better known by his online name 1Powlo, is a Canadian, visual artist, photographer and husband. Nicknamed P, is known for his graphic style of street photography, eclectic and introspective themes of everyday life. He embarked on his creative career in the late 1990s, as a Graphic Artist and Print producer for various creative agencies in Vancouver. A collection of passion projects has led to creation of 1PXL.space. My education in the mid-1990s, was a big part (journey?), fortunate to have such talented mentors in the industry. In 2014, I started a Project 365 while traveling long term. Coming home, I could not put down my camera, the rest has led to this next project 1PXL Photography. A collection of Fine Art Travel and Street Photography images from around the world.

Imagine being lucky enough to travel the planet miles by air, land and sea to be able to experience different cultures around the world one photo at a time. After experiencing long-term travel, I’ve realized it takes a lot more to capture a place than pushing a little round button. Creating photos that tell a story while evoking emotion from the subject matter and inspiring the viewer is challenging. Patience, on the spot creativity and seizing the moment the suspense is addictive, and of course having a good time and enjoying what comes from lifelong experiences while having fun is priceless. Photography has brought great joy to me, my family and friends.
The site was born out of my love for street and travel photography and by sharing stories on Instagram. The camera allows my creative and technical side come together through capturing moments to bring the viewer stories by making art from everyday life.
Having a graphic design background in advertising/marketing agencies started my path in corporate events & portrait photography. Clients include ad agencies, print and online magazines, Credit Union Conferences, non-profit organizations and community events.
When I’m not editing in Lightroom, my wife and I spend our time in Vancouver biking in summer and snowboarding in winter, We take care by meditating + yoga and organically eating healthy. We love exploring cities and experiencing different cultures.
